BRC-166 Merges, Kallubi Wallet 1.0 Ships, and BSV Rides the Blake2b Fork Debate

A quiet but real week of shipping — a new wallet, a merged HTTP payments standard, chain activity spikes — playing out against a wider Bitcoin fork drama that keeps dragging BSV back into the conversation as a cautionary tale.

What Mattered

Protocol and Technical

BRC-166 was merged as an official BRC. bsvcx_ described it as a simple, wallet-native way for any client to pay per HTTP request, framed as the rail behind pay-per-call APIs. The same account also introduced Proofpack, which turns a confirmed txid into a portable BEEF (BRC-62) + BUMP (BRC-74) proof with header-tip attestation that recipients can verify without trusting the issuer.

Kallubi shipped v1.0 of the Kallubi BSV Wallet — portable desktop, non-custodial, BIP39 with optional 13th word, BIP44 path scan including Centi range, broadcasting through the project's own node. The rollout followed a closed test on Windows and Linux over the prior weekend. BitcoinSVCOL noted this brings the count of active BSV explorers to four (WhatsOnChain, Bitails, Banana Blocks, Kallubi) inside roughly two years.

John Calhoun (johncalhooon) posted work-in-progress on miner-validated unique usernames and PFPs on BSV — property-like, transferable via covenants, no renewals, no indexer, no takebacks. Separately, in a thread about wallet redundancy, he sketched an approach where UTXO storage providers cooperate on shared overlays, and Deggen responded that @bsv/wallet-relay already implements this in BSV Browser and that a non-browser "BSV Wallet" from BSVA is waiting on legal clearance for the hosted-redundancy parts.

Luke Rohenaz (wildsatchmo) inscribed a new Theme Token, "Mutagen Mayhem," installable via shadcn — continued momentum on the theme-token pattern rather than a fresh launch.

Richard Hein (EntangleITcom) surfaced DeadmanSwitch, a BRC-100 app for passing on Bitcoin holdings and Twetch accounts after death. Framing was promotional, but the app itself sits in the same BRC-100 lane the community keeps returning to.

BSV Search demoed Sovereignty Tools (Sovereign Keys and Sovereign Pay) — self-contained HTML self-custody tools that run in most browsers with no install or login.

PaiyBit launched PaiyTile, a subscriber-facing floating tile in its app that reflects a creator's real-time activity ("Reading The Paper · 40%") and dims when they go quiet.

BitcoinSvGuide noted that per Coin Dance data, BSV mining briefly became more profitable than BTC mining for what they said is the first time in about a year, calling it possibly a blip but worth watching if sustained.

Background rather than news: the Teranode account continued its routine explainer cadence on Chronicle (testnet Jan 2026, mainnet April 7, 2026 for original opcode restoration and clean-stack removal), Teranode's Aerospike UTXO tracking, Merkle trees, and the v0.13.2 release. These restate an established roadmap and are not fresh announcements.

Business and Adoption

Chainspect reported BSV activity jumped 237% on Sep 1 to over 4.27M transactions and a new weekly high, with cumulative txs past 7.1B. Joshuwa echoed the 237% activity figure alongside broader September-open momentum data. Critic William Short countered that 99.2% of BSV transactions reportedly come from TransactionBlaster and TeraGun, which the Teragun team implicitly confirms — TeragunApp announced an "armory update" pushing 1,000 tx/s at 50,000 real BSV transactions per dollar, aimed at mass on-chain firing. Whether the activity number reflects economic use or spam-style stress testing is the honest open question, and Jeff Swanson (theswansjr) made that critique explicit, calling BSV a "filing cabinet" rather than a payment network. Casey (BSVCasey) responded that BSV remains the only PoW network engineered for millions of TPS and that Teranode is being phased into mainnet.

BullRushClub argued BSV is being distributed at suppressed prices, citing ~$2M/day CEX volume fragmented across venues alongside coins leaving exchanges. Treat as market commentary rather than confirmed flow analysis.

Kurt Wuckert Jr previewed a podcast episode covering how Ordinals Wallet front-ran the 2023 BTC ordinals boom by leveraging years of BSV inscription experience — a rare piece of BSV lineage credit landing outside the BSV bubble.

Robert.Bsv (robert_bsv) called attention to a specific address (1A6ud3LrKkPqkwrbGmxu84YTsaJX51SmW) as possibly being used to short BSV and pressure the network, and proposed coordinated buying. Unverified — no on-chain analysis was provided beyond the address string.

Community and Discourse

The dominant external context this cycle was the Blake2b / BIP-110 hard fork drama on BTC. Nearly every non-BSV mention of BSV in the corpus used it as a comparison point:

Inside the BSV community, cliffnotes (textbitcoin) asked indelibleBSV, johncalhooon, phanpp11, and JohnWayne_SV whether their projects depend on Teranode's BRC-100 architecture. Bridget (hbgnostic) answered plainly: Traceport is a bridging design that uses parts of BRC-100 and starts custodial, with a sovereign path fully on BRC-100; Teranode is required eventually because "if we don't scale to MMs/BNs of tx/sec we don't have a chain."

Hekto100 ran a long-running thread on wallet fragmentation and the messiness of the current transition, drawing serious replies from Bridget, John Calhoun, and BlockExtreme acknowledging that node development jumped ahead of wallet development but that new wallets are coming. Nick Simon asked the disarmingly simple question of why users need a wallet at all instead of holding on an exchange — worth flagging because it points to a UX gap the ecosystem hasn't consistently addressed.

Rafael LaVerde and Light (LightBSV) had an exchange on BSV patents: LaVerde raised that patents could be an attack surface if holders are compromised, Light responded that patent skepticism is a stalking horse for people who don't want vendor-neutral standards or competition. Ongoing tension worth watching.

Casey (BSVCasey) also mentioned shipping an MCP (Model Context Protocol) "learning library" for LLMs to access BSV knowledge, still being put through its paces.

Other

Hekto100 claimed to have called Elon Musk personally to remove a supposed cashtag shadow ban on $BSV — treat as rhetorical, not a real event. MemeWaveApp separately noted the $BSV cashtag still doesn't embed price data despite BSV being in the top 100.

Kurt Wuckert Jr's line — "Deep focus from outside of BSV of the dangers from within BSV… FOREVER" — captures the meta-observation that BSV's biggest critics remain more engaged with it than many holders.
